Diamondbacks signed 3B Ti’Quan Forbes to a minor league contract.
Forbes hit .267/.329/.396 with six homers and six steals last year between Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte in the White Sox’ minor-league system. The 25-year-old infielder was a second-round selection of the White Sox back in 2014 and has yet to make his big-league debut.

Rangers SS prospect Ti’Quan Forbes drove in a career-high six runs Sunday in a win for Low-A Hickory.
Four of those RBI came on a 10th-inning grand slam. His other hit was a two-run single in the third inning. The 19-year-old isn’t having a great season, but he’s shown a little more pep in his step since the All-Star break, hitting .275 over 142 second-half at-bats compared to only .239 before the break. Forbes has been with the Rangers’ organization since 2014 when he was selected as a second-round pick out of high school.

White Sox acquired infielder Ti’Quan Forbes from the Rangers for RHP Miguel Gonzalez.
Forbes, a 2014 second-round pick, was hitting just .234/.281/.344 for two A-ball teams this year. The good news is that he’s still just 20 years old. The bad is that he couldn’t hack it at shortstop and is now playing both third and first. He’ll need to take a big step forward to emerge as a legitimate prospect.

Rangers signed second-round SS Ti’Quan Forbes.
The Rangers had to fork over $1.2 million to keep Forbes away from Ole Miss, which is significantly more than the assigned slot value of $957,900 for the No. 59 pick. Forbes could eventually outgrow shortstop, but he’s a gifted athlete who has one of the higher ceilings in the draft. It will take him a while to move up the ladder in the Rangers’ system.
