Rutgers received a verbal commitment from three-star 2020 ATH Tyreem Powell, formerly committed to Virginia Tech.
Powell (6'4/205) had been committed to the Hokies since February, but came away impressed with his Rutgers OV this past weekend, which paved the way for his flip on the boys in Blacksburg. The Vineland, New Jersey, native will sign with Rutgers next Wednesday. Whether he ends up on offense or defense -- he is adept at both and comes with a fair bit of position versatility -- will be determined after he hits campus. On the 247Sports composite board, Powell slots in as the No. 18 athlete prospect in the state of New Jersey for the 2020 cycle.
