With the Mercury reportedly expected to eventually sign DeWanna Bonner, the team needed to waive a player to free up a roster spot. Unfortunately for Musa, her time with the team ended Tuesday morning. While the 6-foot-2 center, who recently missed time with an ankle injury, was removed from the injury report ahead of Monday’s win over the Wings, she did not see any action.
  • Musa is available after sitting out Thursday’s loss to the Wings with a right ankle injury. Under normal circumstances, her return would not impact fantasy basketball. However, with Satou Sabally (ankle) out, additional rotation minutes may be available to Musa in Monday’s rematch.
  • Due to a sprained right ankle, Sabally will miss a game for the first time this season. The good news is that she’s considered day-to-day, but there is a significant hole in the Mercury rotation with the All-Star forward sidelined. Natasha Mack and Murjanatu Musa, the latter being removed from the injury report after missing time with an ankle injury, should see their playing time increase with Sabally out. However, neither offers much offensive upside.
  • Musa recently suffered a right ankle injury, which is why she appeared on the Mercury’s injury report. Her absence does not significantly impact Phoenix’s frontcourt rotation, as Kalani Brown and Natasha Mack already play more minutes off the bench than Musa.
  • Musa will miss a second consecutive game due to illness. Her absence does not have a significant impact on the Mercury rotation, however, as they’ll stick with Kathryn Westbeld and Kalani Brown as the top two options at the center position.
  • Musa could potentially return after sitting out Sunday’s win over the Mystics. However, if available, she is not guaranteed rotation minutes, with Kathryn Westbeld and Kalani Brown occupying the top two spots on Phoenix’s depth chart. Musa should not be rostered in fantasy leagues.
  • Musa is a late addition to the Mercury injury report, and her absence leaves the team down a body in the frontcourt. However, she was a DNP-CD in Friday’s loss to the Storm, with Kalani Brown being the backup center. Musa’s absence will not impact the rotation, as long as Brown and starter Kathryn Westbeld avoid injury/foul trouble.
  • Center Murjanatu Musa, who was not with the Mercury for training camp as she satisfied her obligation to French club Targes Gespe Bigorre, has been activated. Due to this transaction, the Mercury needed to free up a roster spot, hence the decision to waive Prince. The veteran forward played 22 minutes in Phoenix’s season-opening win over Seattle, finishing with two points, eight rebounds and one assist. Phoenix plays its next game against the Sparks on Wednesday.
