López is signing a $1.1 million contract with the Yomiuri Giants. he posted a 5.73 ERA over just 11 innings in eight appearances in 2022.

López has been ostensibly granted his release by the Mets, who received cash from the Giants to relinquish his contract, to pursue an opportunity overseas in Japan. He’ll earn $1.1 million this season and can make another $400,000 in performance-based incentives. His departure also opens up a spot on New York’s 40-man roster. The hard-throwing 29-year-old righty compiled a lackluster 5.73 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 51/10 K/BB ratio across 11 innings (eight appearances) last year at the big league level.

An extra bullpen arm for manager Buck Showalter to deploy in the twin-bill versus the Pirates. López, 29, carries a 5.73 ERA and 10/5 K/BB ratio through 11 innings of work this season at the MLB level.

López provides the Mets with some extra bullpen depth for Saturday’s twin bill against the Braves. The 29-year-old righty has registered a solid 3.38 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 10/5 K/BB ratio across 10 2/3 innings (seven appearances) this season in the majors.

Lopez has surrendered five runs -- four earned -- on 10 hits and five walks over 10 2/3 innings of relief this season with New York. Trade-deadline acquisition Mychal Givens is officially joining the club on Wednesday and Trevor May (triceps) has been activated from the 60-day injured list.

Lopez will provide a fresh arm in the Mets bullpen -- at least for a day or two -- replacing Colin Holderman who was dealt to the Pirates on Friday. López has registered a 3.12 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 8/1 K/BB ratio over 8 2/3 innings with the big league club this season.

López gives the Mets’ bullpen some additional reinforcement heading into Saturday’s twin bill against the Cubs at historic Wrigley Field. The 29-year-old righty has allowed three runs on six hits with a 6/2 K/BB ratio across 6 2/3 innings (four appearances) this season in the majors.

Lopez, 29, gets sent down to make room for Seth Lugo after Lugo was activated off the paternity list. Lopez will be nothing more than org depth for the rest of the year.

It’s not the first time -- and certainly won’t be the last -- that Lopez makes the trip from Syracuse to New York this season. The 29-year-old hurler holds a 9.00 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 4/0 K/BB ratio over three innings with the big league club this season. Khalil Lee was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

After serving a one-game suspension, López is headed back to Syracuse as the Mets needed some outfield help with Brandon Nimmo’s wrist injury. He should see time again in the Mets bullpen this year.
