Yovani Gallardo was handed his eighth loss of the season in Sunday’s series finale, giving up three runs on six hits across 4 1/3 innings against the Mariners.
The 32-year-old right-hander struck out three and walked one in the contest. Most of the damage against him came in the second inning, where David Freitas came through with an RBI double and scored on an RBI single by Andrew Romine. Gallardo finishes the 2018 campaign 8-8 with a 6.39 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 58/47 K/BB ratio across 94 1/3 innings. He’ll be a free agent this winter.

Yovani Gallardo gave up two runs on three hits over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Angels on Tuesday.
Gallardo retired nine of the first 10 batters he faced and didn’t give up a hit until Jose Fernandez led off the fourth inning with a base knock. He departed with a one-run lead after giving up a leadoff double to Kole Calhoun and issuing an intentional walk to Mike Trout in the sixth inning. Unfortunately, the Rangers bullpen allowed both base runners to cross the plate, saddling the 32-year-old veteran with a loss. He’s 3-6 with a 6.52 ERA in 10 starts since August 2. He’ll close out the season with a matchup against the Mariners in Seattle on Sunday.

Single-A Brevard County’s Yovani Gallardo allowed one run in seven innings and struck out 12 on Saturday.

Yovani Gallardo struck out nine while allowing two runs -- one earned -- in six innings Thursday for Double-A Huntsville.
Gallardo is 4-2 with a 1.44 ERA, 40 H and 69/22 K/BB in 62 1/3 IP since his promotion in late June. The Brewers aren’t likely to call him up next month, but he in the club’s rotation by mid-2007.

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke is undecided on whether Yovani Gallardo will make his scheduled start Wednesday.
The Brewers have, of course, already locked up the division, but they’re trying to hold off the Diamondbacks for the second-best record in the NL that would keep them from having to play the Phillies in the first round. “We’re trying to figure out with ‘Yo’ whether to keep him on that day or just wait,” said Roenicke. “There’s a lot we need to work out, I think the last two games especially.” If Gallardo makes the start, we would expect it to be an abbreviated one. They’re also considering giving Zack Greinke an inning or two out of the bullpen so that he won’t go so long in between starts.

Yovani Gallardo allowed just one run on seven hits in 7 1/3 innings Friday, taking a no-decision in Milwaukee’s 4-1 win over the Marlins.
Gallardo struck out 11, giving him 207 punchouts in 207 1/3 innings this year. He has now recorded at least 200 strikeouts in three consecutive seasons. Gallardo is in line to start Milwaukee’s regular-season finale against the Pirates on Wednesday, but will probably be held out in an effort to keep him fresh for the playoffs. It’s more likely he’ll make a tune-up appearance out of the bullpen some time early next week.

Yovani Gallardo allowed one-run on six hits and two walks over six innings in the Brewers Game 5 NLDS clinching win.
He struck out five. Coming off an eight-inning performance in which he allowed only one run, Gallardo has allowed two runs or less in each of his last four starts. While it was not the most efficient outing (46 balls on 118 pitches) Gallardo’s only mistake came in the third as Upton homered to right on a 3-2 fastball. His six hits on 15 balls in play (.400) is also somewhat concerning.

Yovani Gallardo was shelled in his Opening Day start Friday against the Cardinals, giving up six runs over just 3 2/3 innings.
Pretty ugly. Gallardo allowed seven hits (four of them home runs) while walking five and striking out three. In doing so, he became the first pitcher to allow four home runs in a season opener since 2002. His command was way off, as he threw just 45 out of 89 pitches for strikes. It’s much too soon to panic, though. Remember, Gallardo had a 6.10 ERA through his first seven starts last season.

Yovani Gallardo turned in a dreadful performance against the Cardinals on Friday, being torched for eight runs on eight hits in just two innings of work.
Gallardo struck out three and walked two in the game. Gallardo came into the game with a 6.17 ERA against the Cardinals in his career, and that number didn’t improve on Friday. He’ll try to put this abysmal effort behind him and move forward when he takes on the Padres in San Diego next week.

Yovani Gallardo walked the tightrope Wednesday but managed to escape damage, allowing seven hits and a walk but no runs over 4 2/3 innings against the Diamondbacks.
He struck out three. Gallardo left runners stranded in scoring position each of the first four innings, including leaving them loaded in the fourth, so it wasn’t the cleanest of outings. But, he ultimately left unscathed and now boasts a 2.77 ERA and 10/4 K/BB ratio over 12 innings this spring.
