Raiders acquired Jason Campbell from the Redskins in exchange for a fourth-round pick in 2012.
Per Redskins beat writer Rick Maese, Campbell already has a deal worked out with Al Davis that will pay him $3.14 million this year and $4.5 million in 2011. Campbell may have to “earn” the job by beating out JaMarcus Russell, but it won’t be a competition. Campbell is a much better passer than either Russell or Bruce Gradkowski, so Zach Miller and Chaz Schilens are now prime candidates for breakout seasons. Upgrade Darren McFadden and Michael Bush as well, as defenses won’t be able to key on the running game.
  • FA Tight End #86
Zach Miller has retired after 10 years in the NFL.
Miller’s horrific 2017 leg injury — which required nine surgeries — proved to be too much to overcome. 33 then, Miller is now going on 35. A 2009 sixth-round pick of the Jaguars, Miller had major issues with injury even before the big one. He hangs up his cleats with 146 career grabs for 1,631 yards and 15 scores. Miller always offered play-making upside, but his injury issues prevented him from fully tapping into it.
  • FA Tight End #86
Free agent TE Zach Miller is unsure if he will attempt to continue his playing career in 2019.
Going on 35, Miller has undergone nine surgeries since his devastating Oct. 2017 knee injury. He appears to be leaning toward hanging his cleats up. Unfortunately, the decision was likely made for him.
  • FA Tight End #86
Bears placed TE Zach Miller (knee) on reserve/PUP.
Miller never had a realistic shot to play this year, but this officially ends his season. It seems like this was always the plan after the Bears signed Miller to a one-year deal on Monday. It is a classy move by the organization.
  • FA Tight End #86
Jaguars declared TE Zach Miller, CB Derek Cox, FB Montell Owens, S Courtney Greene, OL Jason Spitz, DE Aaron Kampman, and WR Kassim Osgood inactive for Week 5 against the Bengals.
The Jags’ speedy second tight end has just four receptions while battling ongoing lower leg injuries this season. With Owens and Osgood sidelined, the Jags are without their two best special teamers.
  • FA Tight End #86
Jaguars placed TE Zach Miller (shoulder) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Miller’s career-long injury woes continue as his season ends with four catches for 42 yards and one touchdown in four games. He’s battled knee, foot and now shoulder issues since breaking into the league in 2009. If healthy, Miller will be back as a reserve behind Marcedes Lewis for the final year of his rookie contract.
  • FA Tight End #86
Jaguars TE Zach Miller was cleared to practice two weeks ago after undergoing shoulder surgery in October.
This is the first we’ve heard that the injury required surgery. The former quarterback believes he’s more ready to play tight end now than at any point in his career, but he acknowledges that the burden is on him to prove he can stay healthy for a full season. Miller won’t be a fantasy factor behind Marcedes Lewis in 2012.
  • FA Tight End #86
Jaguars TE Zach Miller (pectoral) returned to practice Sunday.
Miller is fighting through some pain in his partially torn pectoral, but has rushed back with his roster spot in jeopardy. Miller is due $565,000 this season, the final year of his rookie contract.
  • FA Tight End #86
Jaguars TE Zach Miller is questionable for Week 1 due to a pectoral injury.
It sounds like a partially torn muscle for the oft-injured Miller. He’s dealt with knee, foot, shoulder and now pectoral injuries since breaking into the league in 2009. This latest injury could put him on the roster bubble.
  • FA Tight End #86
Jaguars waived/injured TE Zach Miller (calf).
He’ll revert to injured reserve if he clears waivers. A converted quarterback, Miller has always had intriguing pass-catching ability, but simply cannot stay healthy. He landed on injured reserve last October with a shoulder injury, and has also battled knee and foot issues. His time in Jacksonville is likely through.
