McClain

McClain (6’0/227) earned second-team All-SEC honors last year after leading the team with 96 tackles, adding eight TFLs, two sacks, and six breakups. McClain lacks size, but he explodes off the blocks and is willing to take on all comers. McClain helps to mitigate his smaller frame by playing with outstanding leverage. Although he’s a strong run defender, his lack of length shows up in his missed-tackle numbers. While he ran a solid 4.69 during pre-draft testing, McClain posted a poor 43rd-percentile size-adjusted athletic composite, particularly struggling in the agility tests. His stiff movements render him poor in coverage, likely confining him to early-down work in the pros. McClain evokes a discount-rack Quincy Williams.
