    A.J. Schugel has signed with the Milwaukee Milkmen of the independent American Association.
    Schugel was released by the Mets last August after surrendering 15 runs (14 earned) with a 21/13 K/BB ratio across 22 2/3 innings at Triple-A Syracuse. The 32-year-old righty last appeared in the majors back in 2017 with the Pirates.

    Diamondbacks acquired RHP AJ Schugel from the Angels as part of the Mark Trumbo deal.
    The D’Backs are still due a player to be named later from the White Sox, as well. Schugel had a nice year at Double-A in 2012 but really struggled in his first taste of Triple-A in 2013, posting a 7.05 ERA over 19 starts. He was not ranked among the Angels’ top-10 prospects recently by Baseball Prospectus.

    Schugel is merely dealing with inflammation in his right shoulder. He’ll be fine for spring training, barring a setback.
