The XFL’s Tampa Bay Vipers announced their 52-man roster Monday.
Former Bears coach Marc Trestman is the head coach. Headlining the roster are QB Aaron Murray, WR Antonio Callaway, WR Seantavius Jones, RB Mack Brown, CB Jalen Collins, and K Andrew Franks. Murray starred at Georgia but never made it in the NFL after being taken by the Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2014 draft. Callaway is trying to rehab his career after multiple off-field incidents at Florida and with the Browns.

Georgia QB Aaron Murray (torn left ACL) expects to be at full health for his April 16 Pro Day.
That’s a bit hard to believe since Murray just went down in November, but he’s been saying he’s ahead of schedule for well over a month. Just 6-foot-0 with questionable arm strength, Murray isn’t expected to come off the board before day three.
  • FA Quarterback #12
Cardinals signed QB Aaron Murray to their practice squad.
A 2014 fifth-round pick, Murray somewhat surprisingly slipped through waivers unclaimed after the Chiefs cut ties Saturday. With Murray on the practice squad, it looks like Matt Barkley will have to find another home.
  • FA Quarterback #12
    Chiefs waived QB Aaron Murray.
The Nick Foles signing basically sealed his fate. The Chiefs reportedly attempted to trade Murray throughout the week, but there were predictably no takers. Murray could fetch a claim on waivers from a team desperate for a backup, but it is not a great sign he lost out to Tyler Bray.
  • FA Quarterback #12
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the Chiefs have made QB Aaron Murray available for trade.
After signing Nick Foles to back up Alex Smith, the Chiefs were never going to keep both Murray and Tyler Bray. A 2014 fifth-rounder, Murray could be interesting to a team desperate for a low-cost backup. Murray will likely be waived if the Chiefs cannot work out a deal.
  • FA Quarterback #12
Free agent QB Aaron Murray is working out for the Panthers on Tuesday.
A fifth-round pick of the Chiefs in 2014, Murray was the only member of the Eagles’ practice squad not signed to a reserve/future contract after the season. That is obviously not a great sign for his future, but he should latch on with someone as an offseason arm. Backups Derek Anderson and Joe Webb are both under contract with the Panthers for 2017.
  • FA Quarterback #12
    Rams signed QB Aaron Murray.
The former college star will be a camp body.
  • FA Quarterback #12
Free agent QB Aaron Murray worked out for the Jets on Wednesday.
26-year-old Murray also recently worked out Carolina after spending part of last season on Arizona’s practice squad. A 2014 fifth-round pick of the Chiefs, Murray would do well to find a team willing to bring him to training camp.
  • FA Quarterback #12
    Rams waived QB Aaron Murray.
It’s pretty remarkable Murray is still around. The 2014 fifth-rounder has never come close to stepping on a regular season field. He turns 27 in November.
  • FA Quarterback #12
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the Rams are “strongly considering” drafting a quarterback in May.
The Rams used one of their 30 pre-draft visits on Pittsburgh’s Tom Savage, and sent QBs coach Frank Cignetti to the Georgia Pro Day to see Aaron Murray throw. They’ve also shown interest in SMU’s Garrett Gilbert and South Carolina’s Connor Shaw. Beat writer Jim Thomas believes the Rams will draft a middle-round QB. “I don’t think there’s any question the Rams are taking a quarterback,” added Gil Brandt. "(GM) Les Snead has been around looking at those guys.”
