Former Georgia Tech WR Ahmarean Brown transferred to South Carolina.
Brown (5'9/185) had a lot of steam heading into this season, as he caught 21 passes for 396 yards and seven touchdowns as the team’s leading wide receiver in 2019. However due to nagging injuries and the emergence of Malachi Carter, the sophomore wideout took on a secondary role in the Georgia Tech passing attack. He now heads to South Carolina where new HC Shane Beamer will need to replace the Gamecocks’ top wideout, Shi Smith, who declared for the NFL Draft earlier this month. Brown should have plenty of opportunity to make an impact in Columbia next season.

However due to nagging injuries and the emergence of Malachi Carter, the sophomore wideout took on a secondary role in the Georgia Tech passing attack. Brown had caught just a single pass in each of his first four games and had not once eclipsed the 40-yard mark this season prior to a four catch, 75-yard showing in his last game against Boston College on October 24. He should have plenty of suitors on the open market.

Georgia Tech sophomore WR Ahmarean Brown (undisclosed) is not listed on the team’s depth chart for Thursday’s game against Pitt.
Brown (5'9185) has had trouble staying in the lineup thanks to a slew of nagging injuries. The sophomore has not gotten off to the start in 2020 he was hoping for. Expected to step up in a big way this year, Brown had caught just a single pass in each of his first four games and had not once eclipsed 40-yards this season prior to a four catch, 75 yard showing in his last game against Boston College on October 24. Malachi Carter will likely take on the lead wide receiver role Thursday night against Pitt.

Expected to step up in a big way this year, Brown had caught just a single pass in each of the last four games and has not once eclipsed 40 yards this season. Things changed on Saturday, as Brown hauled in a 32-yard score on a corner route against Boston College. In all, he finished with the most yards on the team by more than double the next-best player. Whether or not Brown can maintain this kind of performance is to be seen.

Georgia Tech freshman WR Ahmarean Brown brought in two passes for 28 yards and two touchdowns in a 28-26 win over North Carolina State on Thursday.
Efficient. With the two touchdowns, Brown (5'9/165) ties the freshman mark of seven at Georgia Tech set by some guy named Calvin Johnson. It’s been a bit of a lost year for the Yellow Jackets despite this win, but Brown has shown upside; as his signal-caller James Graham. He’ll look to break the freshman record next Saturday against rival Georgia.

Georgia Tech freshman WR Ahmarean Brown caught four passes for 61 yards and a touchdown in Saturday’s 20-10 loss to Pitt.
Brown (5'9/165) did the bulk of his damage on a 51-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter. He has made a habit of burning fools deep, entering the weekend averaging a tick over 20 yards per reception. The speed maven signed on with Georgia Tech as a three-star recruit last December. File the name away, as he has upside in this rebuilding passing game.

Georgia Tech signed three-star 2019 WR Ahmarean Brown.
Brown (5'9/165) picks the Yellow Jackets over Maryland -- a school he had previously been committed to, and also had offers from schools like Alabama, Minnesota and Iowa State. He’s considered a speedy wideout who can make tacklers miss, but he might have to operate out of the slot because of his build. Georgia Tech will no longer be running the triple-option, so this should be a more desirable landing spot for wide receivers under Geoff Collins.
