Arismendy Alcantara has signed with Japan’s Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters.
Alcantara spent 2021 at Triple-A in the Giants’ organization, putting up a .923 OPS. This will be the first stint overseas for the 30-year-old.

Angels signed INF/OF Arismendy Alcantara to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Alcantara inked a minor league deal with the Mets last January and went on to post an impressive .286/.354/.480 batting line with 15 home runs and 21 stolen bases in 119 games between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Syracuse. The versatile 28-year-old could see MLB action with the Angels at some point in 2020.
  • INT Outfield #29
Mets signed INF/OF Arismendy Alcantara to a minor league contract.
Alcantara was once considered one of the best prospects in baseball, routinely making top 100 lists. Unfortunately, his development stalled, and he’s hit just .189/.235/.315 over parts of four campaigns. He spent 2018 in the Mexican League, and posted an .880 OPS with 18 homers and 15 steals in 95 games. Alcantara can play in the infield and outfield, and that versatility could give the 27-year-old a chance at a utility role at some point with the Mets.
  • INT Outfield #29
Cubs purchased the contract of INF Arismendy Alcantara from Double-A Tennessee.
Alcantara had a nice season at Double-A, batting .271/.352/.451 with 15 home runs and 31 stolen bases. Purchasing his contract guarantees he’s protected in December’s Rule 5 Draft. There’s an outside chance Alcantara, 22, could make his major league debut in 2014.
  • INT Outfield #29
Athletics recalled INF/OF Arismendy Alcantara from Triple-A Nashville.
Alcantara, who was recently acquired from the Cubs for Chris Coghlan, was batting .248/.299/.415 with six homers and 26 steals over 63 games this season in Triple-A. The 24-year-old figures to serve in a utility role initially, but he could find regular playing time during the second half.
  • INT Outfield #29
Athletics optioned INF/OF Arismendy Alcantara to Triple-A Nashville.
He’s clearly out to accommodate the arrival of Sunday’s starter, Jesse Hahn. Alcantara has three hits in 13 at-bats in his brief time with the big club this season.
  • NYM 2nd Baseman #10
Marcus Semien is not in the Athletics’ lineup Friday.
He’s just getting a breather. Danny Valencia is also sitting out, as the A’s are going with Arismendy Alcantara at shortstop, Yonder Alonso at first base, Khris Davis in the designated hitter spot, Jake Smolinski in center field and Coco Crisp in left.

Athletics recalled INF/OF Arismendy Alcantara from Triple-A Nashville.
Alcantara has had a couple of brief stints with the big club since being acquired from the Cubs back in June, but he should now get a chance to stick around down the stretch. The 24-year-old has hit .276/.325/.457 with 11 homers and 32 steals over 102 games this season at the Triple-A level.

Athletics optioned INF/OF Arismendy Alcantara to Triple-A Nashville.
Alcantara came over to the A’s from the Cubs as part of the Chris Coghlan trade earlier this month. He was called up to the big league club on June 21 and picked up two hits in eight at-bats during that cup of iced coffee. The 24-year-old utility bat also stole two bases in that space. Expect to see him called up again the next time the A’s are looking for an additional bench bat.
