    Sulser was released earlier this month by the Blue Jays and didn’t take long to find another opportunity. The 30-year-old righty hasn’t appeared in the majors since the 2022 campaign when he made 10 relief appearances split between the Pirates and Orioles.

    The 30-year-old right-hander actually stepped right in and started at Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday, giving up five runs on nine hits across 3 1/3 innings of work. He’ll continue to function as extra pitching depth for the Jays at the Triple-A level.

    Sulser signed with the KT Wiz of the Korea Baseball Organization last November after making 10 relief appearances last season between the Orioles and Pirates. The 29-year-old righty returns to Pittsburgh to serve as organizational relief depth moving forward.

    It’s a one-year, $740,000 contract. Sulser got outrighted off the 40-man roster in Pittsburgh earlier this month after allowing 14 runs -- nine earned -- over his first 22 1/3 major league innings in 2022. The 28-year-old right-hander was a 10th-round pick of the Pirates in the 2017 MLB Draft.

    Sulser began the 2022 season in the Pirates organization before he was designated for assignment in May and claimed by the Orioles. He was then claimed back in mid-October. The 28-year-old hurler posted a 3.55 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 9/3 K/BB ratio across 12 2/3 innings with the Orioles.

    The right-hander was designated for assignment by the O’s earlier in the week after pitching to a 3.55 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 9/3 K/BB ratio in 12 2/3 innings after being claimed off of waivers from the Pirates earlier in the season. He now returns to Pittsburgh where he’ll once again function as bullpen depth.

    Sulser pitched decently in his 21 appearances with a 3.86 ERA and 19/9 K/BB ratio for the Orioles in 2022. It wouldn’t be a big surprise if he was claimed, but if not, he will have the option to elect free agency or report back to Triple-A Norfolk.
