There are six Southeastern Conference schools on tonight’s college basketball schedule. I will be handicapping the nationally-televised matchup between the No. 6 Alabama Crimson Tide and the Memphis Tigers from the FedExForum. Odds powered by PointsBet.

Alabama vs. Memphis (+3.5) Total 154.5

The Alabama Crimson Tide football team is used to being national championship contenders. This season head coach Nate Oats has the Crimson Tide basketball team thinking they can win it all. PointsBet currently has the Crimson Tide at +2500 to win the whole thing in college basketball. Only nine teams have shorter odds than Alabama. So far this season Bama is 8-1 on the Money Line and 6-3 ATS. Alabama has won four games in a row, including back to back wins over Gonzaga and Houston. However, Alabama will play its first road game of the season tonight when it faces the Memphis Tigers. On the court, Alabama is led by the great backcourt combo of Jaden Shackleford and Jahvon Quinerly.

The Memphis Tigers are another team with national title aspirations this season. They currently share +2500 odds to win it all with Alabama, despite losing each of their last four games. Memphis is also 0-2 straight up and ATS vs. SEC schools this season. Memphis is a very talented team that features some of the top talent in college basketball, including freshman Emoni Bates and Jalen Duren, who will likely be playing in the NBA next season. Despite their current losing streak the Tigers can get hot at any time.

Memphis head coach Penny Hardaway is great at recruiting and selling Nikes, but I’m not sure how good he is at coaching college basketball. This Memphis Tigers team should be playing better. Their latest loss came against Murray State. In his career, coach Hardaway is 2-6 ATS and on the Money Line vs. SEC opponents.

PointsBet opened this game up with the Crimson Tide as 5 point favorites. That line held steady until this morning when respected money started coming in on the Tigers. Memphis is now a 3.5 point underdog at home. Why is the respected money backing the Tigers? Under Nate Oats, Alabama is 3-5-1 ATS as road favorites and they have only covered the number once in their last six road games. PointsBet is reporting over 70% of the tickets backing the Crimson Tide tonight, but over 50% of the handle is on the Tigers. This is a good time to fade the public in a nationally-televised game.

Edge: Memphis +3.5
