NEW YORK (AP) Ultra Brat rallied from last for a 22-1 upset Friday in the $100,000 Christiecat Stakes, the opening-day feature at Belmont Park.
Joel Rosario guided Ultra Brat to the center of the course for the stretch run and she responded with her first stakes victory, and third in six starts overall.
Ultra Brat beat Miss Katie May, another closer, by a neck to give trainer Graham Motion a 1-2 finish in the race for 3-year-old fillies on the turf.
The time was 1:08.07 for the six furlongs.
Ultra Brat paid $47, $17.40 and $9.40. Miss Katie May returned $6.70 and $4.20.
Ava’s Kitten, the 8/5 favorite, was third. She paid $2.70 to show.
