Cal Quantrill O/U 4.5 Strikeouts vs. Royals
Cal Quantrill will make his second start of the season versus the Royals, and we will ride the Under on strikeouts after Zach Plesac broke our hearts yesterday.
Earlier, he went 5.0 innings and recorded four hits, two earned runs, two strikeouts and one walk. In May, the Guardians pitcher has tossed 25.1 innings with 18 strikeouts to nine walks (3.55 ERA). Quantrill has 14 strikeouts over 23.2 innings against Kansas City since 2021.
Quantrill has 89 plate appearances versus the Royals and owns a .214 OBA and 15.7 K% on 18 hits, 14 strikeouts and four walks. However, Quantrill has issues with walks this season.
Quantrill permitted four walks last start and at least three in five of eight starts for a career-high 9.9 BB%. His 14.6 K% is a career-low, as are his percentiles rank in the bottom for K% and whiff%, per baseball savant.
RHP is 11-9 to the Under 4.5 strikeouts versus the Royals this month (55%), with five of the past seven going Under (71.4%). Quantrill is 6-2 to the Under 4.5 Ks (75%) on the season and 2-2 in his four career starts versus Kansas City.
I like Quantrill to end the month of May on an Under. Opponents are hitting him at .256 in May compared to .206 in April. I played Quantrill Under 4.5 strikeouts for --140 odds. I would do a half-unit at Under 3.5 Ks.
