NBA Betting Cheat Sheet for April 23

Michael Porter Jr.

Michael Porter Jr.

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Friday nights are my favorite night to bet on the NBA and tonight we have seven games on the slate, four of which have either play-in tournament or playoff implications. All game odds powered by PointsBet.

Boston Celtics vs. Brooklyn Nets (-4.5) Total: 227

The Celtics and Nets meet tonight for the third time this season and Brooklyn has won the previous two games. However, Boston is streaking right now, winning eight of its last 10 games, as it looks to hold its slim lead over the Heat for the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference.

I think the Nets will give their best effort tonight because they play to the level of their competition. Kevin Durant and Jaylen Brown are both questionable for this matchup, but If Durant does suit up for Brooklyn, I will lay the points with them.

Edge: Nets -4.5

Miami Heat vs Atlanta Hawks (+5) Total: 212

The Heat and Hawks will basically play a playoff game tonight in Atlanta because with a win tonight the Heat will tie the Hawks for the fifth seed in the East. Trae Young is already out for this contest, while Clint Capela and Danillo Gallinari are both questionable.

The Heat enter tonight’s game on a three-game winning streak and I like them to win the game, but I think the Hawks cover the spread.

Edge Finder Tip: When the Heat are road favorites the Under has cashed 62% of the time.

Edge: Under 212

Denver Nuggets vs. Golden State Warriors (+2) Total: 228.5

The Nuggets will look to win their fifth-straight game tonight when they face the Warriors. The last team to beat the Nuggets was the Warriors, which was the same night Jamal Murray tore his ACL.

The Warriors are returning from a five-game road trip that saw them go 3-2 SU, however, they are 5-4 ATS at home since the All-Star break.

Normally I would fade a short road favorite, which the Nuggets are tonight, but I don’t want to get in front of Denver to back a trendy dog, which the Warriors will be tonight.

Edge Finder Tip: The Nuggets are 12-9 ATS as road favorites this season.

Edge: Nuggets -2

Memphis Grizzlies vs. Portland Trail Blazers (-3) Total: 232.5

These teams meet tonight for the first time since their play-in game in the NBA bubble last season when the Trail Blazers ended the Grizzlies’ season with a 4-point victory. We can expect tonight’s matchup to have a playoff atmosphere as well because the Grizzlies are just 2.5 games behind the Trail Blazers for the sixth seed in the Western Conference.

The Grizzlies are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games, while the Trail Blazers are 3-7 SU in their last 10. However, Portland will have all of its key pieces for tonight’s game, while Memphis will be without Jonas Valanciunas.

Since the All-Star break the Grizzlies are 5-2 to the Over as road underdogs.

Edge: Over 232.5
