Bilal Powell announced his retirement from the NFL.
The Jets will sign him to a one-day contract so he can retire with the organization. Powell’s two most relevant fantasy football years were 2016 and 2017, when he finished with a combined 1,494 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, adding 81 catches for two touchdowns. In all, he suited up for Gang Green in 109 games between 2011 and 2019.

Bilal Powell rushed seven times for 27 yards in Week 17 against Buffalo.
Powell got most of carries in the second half with Le’Veon Bell rested. He was a strict backup this season, finishing with just 66 touches over 13 games. An impending free agent, Powell would likely need to accept a minimum deal to be back with the Jets.

Bilal Powell (ankle) is questionable for Week 16 against the Steelers.
Powell was limited all week with his ankle injury. He won’t have much of a role if active with Le’Veon Bell healthy. Powell has just 10 targets and is averaging 3.9 YPC on his 51 carries this season.

Bilal Powell (ankle) was ruled out for Week 15 against the Ravens.
Powell was no longer a usage-based option anyhow with Le’Veon Bell removed from New York’s injury report altogether. Ty Montgomery (hip/foot, questionable) would take over that role if active. Powell can officially be dropped everywhere since the Jets face Pittsburgh in Week 16.

Jets coach Adam Gase said Bilal Powell (illness/ankle) is “uncertain” for Week 15 against the Ravens.
Powell is dealing with both an ankle injury and the flu ahead of Thursday’s short turnaround against the Ravens. Gase said Le’Veon Bell (illness) wanted to play last week but was told to stay away from the team — a telling sign he’ll be ready to go no matter Powell’s final status. Ty Montgomery is the player to roster if there are any doubts about Bell’s availability heading into Thursday.

Bilal Powell (ankle, illness) listed as a DNP on Jets’ estimated injury report.
The Jets didn’t actually practice Monday, but they’re required to submit an estimated practice report. Powell worked as the offense’s featured back with Le’Veon Bell sidelined in Week 14, but his absence Monday, combined with Bell being listed as a limited participant, means the veteran RB will likely be off the fantasy grid on Thursday night against the Ravens.

Bilal Powell rushed 19 times for 74 yards in the Jets’ Week 14 win over the Dolphins, adding two catches for 14 additional yards.
Powell was the clear leader of the Jets’ Le’Veon Bell-less backfield, though he did cede nine carries/12 touches to Ty Montgomery. For his troubles, Powell needed a post-game X-ray on his left foot. He was reportedly carted to the testing room. With Bell missing today’s game with merely an illness, Powell should disappear from the scene just as quickly as he emerged. The Jets will be in Baltimore for Week 15.

Le’Veon Bell (illness) is out for Week 14 against the Dolphins.
Players rarely miss games with illnesses, but things happen. The Jets will turn to Bilal Powell and Ty Montgomery on Sunday against an awful Dolphins defense. It’s still hard to trust these backs as confident plug-and-play options because of how inconsistent the Jets offense is, but Powell has been the more utilized backup in recent weeks. Expect Bell, who has averaged a league-worst 3.2 yards per carry behind this New York offensive line, to return in Week 15.

Bilal Powell rushed five times for 15 yards in the Jets’ Week 12 win over the Raiders, adding one reception for five additional yards.
Powell continues to see a series or two per game, but doesn’t possess anything near standalone value at the moment. The Jets would likely form a two-RB committee with Powell and Ty Montgomery if Le’Veon Bell is ultimately forced to miss any game action

Jets declared RB Bilal Powell, LB C.J. Mosley, DL Quinnen Williams, QB Sam Darnold, DL John Franklin-Myers, LB Jordan Willis, and OL Chuma Edgoa inactive Week 2 against the Browns.
Powell is a healthy scratch. Mosley has a groin injury, Williams an ankle issue, and Darnold is week to week with mono. The Jets are already a mess.
