Free agent S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix will work out for the 49ers.
The 49ers also worked out Clayton Geathers, Bradley McDougald, and Andrew Sendejo. They are clearly looking to add safety help, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if they add someone in the coming days or weeks. Clinton-Dix worked out for the Colts last week as well. He didn’t play last season after the Cowboys cut him prior to Week 1.

  • FA Safety #25
Seahawks acquired S Jamal Adams from the Jets in exchange for S Bradley McDougald, 2021 first- and third-round picks, and a 2022 first-round pick.
Adams had made public trade demands for months, and he finally gets his wish for a fresh start. In 2019, the Seahawks’ defense wasn’t what it had been during its mid-2010s run, but adding Adams to the mix certainly will make a major impact. Adams is a consensus top-three safety and is one of the few players capable of rushing the quarterback in addition to his duties as a coverage specialist. The Seahawks’ next order of business will be to ink Adams to a long-term deal. It’s tough to trade a star player, but the Jets are at least setting themselves up for the future with these draft assets.

  • FA Defensive Back #22
Jets acquired S Bradley McDougald, 2021 first- and third-round picks, and a 2022 first-round pick from the Seahawks in exchange for S Jamal Adams.
McDougald was a throw-in piece in the giant trade involving Jamal Adams, two first-round picks, and a third-rounder. McDougald figures to compete for a starting spot in New York, but he’s an obvious downgrade and the move arguably makes the Jets a bottom-three secondary. It’s a move that significantly helps the Jets’ long-term plans, however. The question now becomes if coach Adam Gase will be along for the ride. GM Joe Douglas seems to be doing a good job in the front office but will need to part ways from Gase to take the next step.

  • FA Defensive Back #22
Seahawks S Bradley McDougald (back) is a game-time decision for the Seahawks’ Week 8 matchup against the Falcons.
The continued absence of the Seahawks’ talented middle of the field safety would be great news for the entire Falcons offense. Still, the fantasy prospects of the entire Falcons’ passing game hinge on whether or not Matt Ryan (ankle) is able to suit up. 38-year-old backup Matt Schaub started two games for the Ravens in 2015, but otherwise hasn’t been anyone’s idea of a qualified starter since 2013. If Ryan is starting, there’s no reason to fear the artists formerly known as The Legion of Boom, as the Seahawks don’t ask their CBs to move from sideline to sideline. This means the Falcons can avoid Shaquill Griffin (PFF’s No. 9 overall CB) in favor of Jamar Taylor (No. 89) and Tre Flowers (No. 92) whenever they please.
  • FA Defensive Back #22
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll is “hopeful” S Bradley McDougald (back) will return for Week 8 against the Falcons.
Carroll tends to be overly optimistic when it comes to injuries, so take this with a grain of salt. McDougald sat out Sunday’s loss to Baltimore after being bothered by back spasms throughout the week. Marquise Blair would draw another start at strong safety if McDougald can’t get the green light for Week 8.
  • FA Defensive Back #22
Seahawks SS Bradley McDougald (back) is questionable for Week 7 against the Ravens.
McDougald missed practice all week with back spasms. The Seahwaks listed him as questionable, but it would be a surprise if he played. Rookie Marquise Blair should draw the start in McDougald’s place.
  • FA Defensive Back #22
Seahawks SS Bradley McDougald is recovering from knee surgery and will be sidelined until training camp.
Coach Pete Carroll was otherwise vague on details, such as the nature of the operation or when McDougald went under the knife. Headed into his age-29 campaign, McDougald has been a workhorse, missing zero games since 2014. He played through a knee issue in 2018.
  • FA Defensive Back #22
Seahawks S Bradley McDougald (knee) is doubtful to return to the Week 15 game against the 49ers.
McDougald is on the sideline, but it appears that his day is over. The Seahawks safety has been playing through a knee injury all season, but it’s caught up to him. The 49ers have a 17-13 lead as we approach halftime.
  • FA Defensive Back #22
    Chiefs waived CB Bradley McDougald.
An undrafted free agent out of Kansas, McDougald had yet to appear in a game. He’ll likely be stashed on the practice squad.
  • FA Defensive Back #22
