Dolphins agreed to terms with P Brandon Fields on a four-year, $13 million extension.
The deal locks Fields up through 2016, and includes $3.3 million guaranteed. He’ll count $1.728 million against the cap this season. A 16-game starter every year since 2007, Fields’ net punting average of 41.1 yards was fourth in the NFL in 2011.

Dolphins P Brandon Fields is the only veteran player the team has under contract through 2015.
They do have seven rookies signed through 2015, including quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Cameron Wake could also be back if the Dolphins picked up his option. But the Dolphins have held off on committing to veterans for the long term, and subsequently have a ton of roster flexibility this year and in the future. Miami has $45 million in salary cap space this offseason. Spend wisely, Jeff Ireland.

The Dolphins and P Brandon Fields have agreed to a contract restructure.
A few days ago, it looked like Fields was headed for the chopping block. Instead he’s back, presumably at a lower cost. Cutting Fields would have saved Miami $3.1 million against the cap. His punt average was 11th-best in the NFL last season.

    Dolphins released P Brandon Fields.
Fields restructured his contract in March in a bid to keep his roster spot. Matt Darr will open the season as the Dolphins’ punter. Miami also released RB Demetrius Bronson.

The Dolphins are expected to cut P Brandon Fields unless he agrees to restructure his contract.
We knew someone would have to pay the price for Ndamukong Suh’s massive contract. Fields is due a $3.3 million cap hit in 2015, sixth-highest in the league among punters. Fields’ average punt distance of 46.3 yards was his lowest since 2010, suggesting the 30-year-old may be on the decline. Once Fields is on the market, he shouldn’t have trouble landing a new team.

    Saints signed P Brandon Fields.
Fields was let go by the Dolphins in training camp. He’ll fill in for Thomas Morstead, who is expected to miss 1-2 games with a strained quad.

    Saints released P Brandon Fields.
The move suggests Thomas Morstead (quad) is nearing full health. WR T.J. Graham will take Fields’ place on the roster.

Dolphins signed seventh-round P Brandon Fields to a four-year contract.
The Michigan State alum is 6-6/235 with a booming leg but has technical flaws that may make him an inconsistent NFL punter. He’ll need competition.

    Dolphins signed P Jy Bond.
Bond will help give Brandon Fields a breather during summer work.

Dolphins VP of football operations Bill Parcells “loves” P Brandon Fields.
Always good to know. Fields is about 6'5/240 and Parcells loves size at every position. The Dolphins didn’t pursue competition for Fields this offseason.
