Patriots WR Brian Tyms caught five passes for 119 yards and a touchdown in New England’s preseason opener against the Redskins.
Tyms was a juggled ball away from a 6/157/2 evening. It was an impressive performance, granted one that came against second- and third-team defenders. Tyms struck up an immediate connection with No. 2/3 QB Jimmy Garoppolo, catching a 26-yard dime with time running out for the Pats’ only score. Although he’s been generating hype all camp, Tyms is facing long odds of cracking the Pats’ crowded receiver corps. He’s essentially auditioning for other teams.
