Seahawks signed ECU WR C.J. Johnson.
The first thing that stands out about Johnson (6’2/224) is his size. Johnson is a big-bodied receiver who is capable of utilizing his frame to haul in contested catches while also creating plays after them. His 34 contested catches and 7.0 YAC/REC for his career rank among the top in this year’s class, but Johnson is also one of the earliest producers of the group. As a true freshman, he broke out for 54-908-4 with the Pirates but saw down seasons in 2020 and 2021. He rebounded in his final season on campus (67-1,016-10), playing primarily as a big slot, which is where he’ll likely play in the NFL. Johnson’s good hands, elite size, and ability to win contested targets could make him an eventual nightmare for opposing defenders.
