Wilcox

Wilcox got injured during camp and wasn’t able to suit up for any preseason games, but it’s not like he was expected to make the team anyway.

This certainly isn’t good news for Wilcox, who was working his way back from a torn Achilles tendon that he suffered last September. The veteran guard out of Washington is expected to be on the roster of the Pacers’ G-League affiliate in Fort Wayne, so he isn’t a fantasy option at this point.

Indiana waived Wilcox to make room for Davon Reed, who they inked to a two-way contract.

He’s out for the season with a torn Achilles. Wilcox, the 28th pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, last appeared in the NBA with the Orlando Magic during the 2016-17 season. He played for the Pacers summer league squad in Las Vegas last month and averaged 9.2 points and 1.4 rebounds per game while shooting 56 percent from the field and 58.8 percent from 3-point range. He will likely spend most of next season in the G-League.

He had a soft cast on his right hand and teammate Branden Dawson said Wilcox’s finger is broken. Wilcox has had some bad luck in the NBA and has played just 44 games in his two-year career. The Clippers should have a more concrete update on Sunday.

Wilcox’s streak of bad luck continues in his professional career, and this certainly will not help his odds of making an impact with the Clippers this season. Los Angeles has to be hopeful that Wilcox will be ready for training camp, but he’s a non-asset in fantasy circles.

The Clippers thought they were taking the best player left on the board in the draft back in 2014, but the 28th pick never really panned out. He’s not expected to get minutes with his new team.

Orlando will let Wilcox become an unrestricted free agent next offseason rather than guarantee his $2,183,328 salary for 2017-18. Wilcox is not on the fantasy radar, having scored a total of just three points this season.

He broke his finger over the summer, but it sounds like the Magic are expecting good news. Jodie Meeks (foot) won’t be ready for the season opener, so Wilcox will fight for minutes off the bench behind Evan Fournier. His role will be limited, at best.

Orlando has until October 31st to exercise their option. Wilcox was drafted by the Clippers with the 28th overall pick in the 2014 draft but appeared in just 44 games over his first two NBA seasons. L.A. traded him to Orlando for Devyn Marble and a 2020 second round draft pick back in July.
