Packers selected Utah OL Caleb Schlauderaff with the No. 179 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft.
A heady pure guard prospect, Schlauderaff was four times an All-Academic pick in the Mountain West and started an impressive 49 straight games to close out his college career. He was a first-team all-conference pick as a senior. Schlauderaff doesn’t show much athleticism in workouts, but the Packers aren’t opposed to picking big, slow (6'5/302) linemen as long as they can be versatile. Schlauderaff won’t be counted on to start in year one.
  • Packers sixth-round rookie Caleb Schlauderaff has taken a landscaping job to make money during the lockout.
Rookies can’t sign contracts during the transactions freeze, so they’re having to get creative. Schlauderaff, the 179th overall pick, is a heady guard prospect from Utah. He projects as a rookie backup, assuming he makes the team.
  • Jets acquired OG Caleb Schlauderaff from the Packers for an undisclosed late-round draft pick.
It was initially reported that he was waived. A sixth-round rookie, Schlauderaff isn’t likely to see many snaps this season. The Jets are desperate for depth after losing so many of their top backups on the line.
  • Packers waived OG Caleb Schlauderaff.
A sixth-round pick this spring, Schlauderaff will be a candidate for the practice squad if he clears waivers. Schlauderaff offers versatility, but he was out-practiced in camp by undrafted free agent Ray Dominguez.
