Seahawks OL Chad Wheeler was arrested on assault and domestic violence charges.
Wheeler is accused of getting into a “physical fight” with his girlfriend. He was released Tuesday and is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday. The Seahawks are “aware of the situation and still gathering information.” 27-year-old Wheeler is a restricted free agent this offseason.

  • FA Tackle #75
    Seahawks waived OT Chad Wheeler.
His career is over, as Wheeler announced on his Twitter that he’s leaving football following his very public arrest after he decided to beat his girlfriend to a pulp. The 27-year-old essentially tried to kill his girlfriend (now ex) over the weekend, sending her to the hospital with a bloody and swollen face, among other injuries. Alleah, the victim, claimed Wheeler “thought I was dead on my bed and continued to eat dinner” before she got up and went to the bathroom when Wheeler replied, “Wow, you’re still alive.” This man needs help.

Giants RT Chad Wheeler will start Week 11 against the Chiefs.
The undrafted rookie is filling in for Justin Pugh, who is out indefinitely with a back injury. Wheeler has played just two snaps this year, with both coming in a Week 4 loss to Tampa Bay. He’ll have his work cut out for him protecting Eli Manning against four-time Pro Bowler Justin Houston. Kansas City’s defense will be a chalky DFS play this week against the overmatched Giants.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the Giants have benched RT Ereck Flowers.
The Giants had hoped that moving Flowers to the right side would reinvigorate him, but clearly that has not been the case through two games. The 24-year-old has been a complete and utter liability, earning PFF’s No. 60 grade out of 68 qualifiers at tackle. Chad Wheeler will spell Flowers at right tackle Sunday against Houston. To quote Gob Bluth, using a first-round pick on Flowers was a “huge mistake.”
  • FA Tackle #75
Giants signed USC OT Chad Wheeler.
Wheeler (6’7/306) was a four-year starter at left tackle for the Trojans, guarding Cody Kessler’s blind side before protecting Sam Darnold as a senior. Wheeler’s injury history is brutal, however. He underwent shoulder surgery as a high school senior and missed five games with torn knee ligaments as a college sophomore. Wheeler tested as a putrid, second-percentile athlete at the Combine, also measuring in with short arms (33 1/8") relative to his size. In a best-case scenario, Wheeler would become a usable swing tackle in the pros. He’s a poor man’s Tyler Polumbus.
