Free agent OG Chase Farris will miss all of 2017 after suffering a torn Achilles.
The injury occurred while training for the upcoming season. This also explains why New England waived him with a non-football-injury designation on Thursday. Farris spent last year on the Patriots’ practice squad after going undrafted out of Ohio State. Expect the Pats to fill his vacant roster spot by adding an interior lineman.
  • FA Tackle #66
Lions signed Ohio State OT Chase Farris.
Farris (6'4/295) switched from defensive line to offensive line two years ago and took over as the Buckeyes’ starting right tackle as a senior. Farris is just an average athlete with 5.17 speed and an 8-foot-6 broad jump, and his limitations showed up too frequently in pass protection at Ohio State. His strength was run blocking. Severely undersized for tackle and not meaty enough for an NFL guard, Farris needs time in the weight room and lots of technical work to become a serious competitor for playing time.
