Harper

RB DuJuan Harris has been released in a corresponding roster move. Harper will feature on special teams for Chip Kelly.

A small-ish 5'11/185 Harper signed with the Patriots out of Cal in 2015 and had a really big preseason before being relegated to the practice squad. He spent all of last year in San Francisco playing for Chip Kelly before getting waived by the new regime in May. Even more so following the loss of Quincy Enunwa (neck, I.R.), the Jets’ receiver corps is wide open. Harper is one to monitor.

An UDFA out of Cal, the 5-foot-11 rookie caught 15 passes for 150 yards and a touchdown in the preseason. The Pats will hope to sneak him through to the practice squad.

Julian Edelman (foot) remains out, Danny Amendola (knee, questionable) may not even travel with the team to Denver, and Keshawn Martin (hamstring, questionable) has missed the last five games. If all three sit, Harper will be asked to play big snaps against Denver. He is not worth a start against the best pass defense in the league, but Harper is a name to monitor in deep leagues.

Despite New England’s injury woes at wide receiver, Harper gets the axe one day after muffing a punt in the Patriots’ Sunday night loss to the Broncos. Danny Amendola (knee) is expected back this week versus the Eagles.
