Sedlock signed a minor league contract with the White Sox back in mid-April and didn’t end up making it to Chicago. The 29-year-old righty, who was hit extremely hard in six relief appearances for Triple-A Charlotte prior to getting cut loose earlier this week, hasn’t appeared in the majors since the 2022 season.

Sedlock hasn’t appeared in the majors since making one relief appearance for the Orioles back in 2022. The 28-year-old righty represents extra organizational bullpen depth for Chicago.

Sedlock was jettisoned from the Orioles’ 40-man roster last month and will head to Detroit in a small trade to serve as extra relief depth. The 26-year-old former first-round pick made made his big-league debut earlier this season and has posted an underwhelming 5.47 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 62/28 K/BB ratio across 54 1/3 innings (10 appearances, one start) this season at the Triple-A level.

Sedlock cleared waivers after being designated for assignment and will remain in the organization.

Sedlock coughed up five runs over three innings back on May 29 in his major-league debut against the Red Sox. The 26-year-old former first-round selection will likely generate some interest on waivers, despite compiling lackluster numbers at Triple-A Norfolk this season.

Sedlock has been shipped out to give the Orioles some extra relief depth ahead of Tuesday’s series opener against the Mariners. The 26-year-old righty was shelled for five runs over three innings Sunday in his major-league debut against the Red Sox.

Sedlock joins the Orioles’ bullpen for Saturday’s doubleheader against the Red Sox. He’ll likely make his major-league debut at some point during the pair of contests. The 26-year-old former first-round selection has compiled an underwhelming 5.83 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 35/12 K/BB ratio across 29 1/3 innings (eight appearances, four starts) this season at Triple-A Norfolk.

The massive batch of cuts leaves the Orioles at 48 players left in major-league camp. Rodriguez is one of the top pitching prospects in baseball and should have a realistic shot at making the major leagues later this season.

Sedlock did walk three, but he also fanned seven in the no-hit effort. A former first-round pick, Sedlock has been a disappointment in his professional career since moving on from the University of Illinois, but he posted a 2.36 ERA for High-A Frederick, and he’s allowed just one hit in his first two appearances with the Baysox. With two plus pitches in his slider and change -- when he’s at his best, anyway -- and a deceptive low 90s fastball, Sedlock has a chance to be a backend starter, and the stuff could play up if given a chance to pitch in relief. He could be a late bloomer.

SB Nation’s Chris Cotillo says he’ll receive the slot value for the No. 27 overall pick, which is $2.0972 million. Sedlock profiles as a mid-rotation starter if it all works out.
