USC made official the worst secret in college basketball: That De’Anthony Melton is thought to be one of the players mentioned in the FBI complaint.

Prior to the program’s game against Cal. State-Fullerton on Friday night, No. 10 USC released a statement that reads: “As a precaution, De’Anthony is being held out due to a potential issue regarding eligibility. De’Anthony is a valued member of the USC community and USC is working diligently to independently investigate this matter in order to confirm that De’Anthony meets the NCAA eligibility requirements.”

Melton did not play in either of USC’s secret scrimmages. The 6-foot-4 sophomore averaged 8.3 points, 4.7 boards and 3.5 assists last season.
