San Jose State junior RB Kairee Robinson handled most of the first team running back reps in spring practice.
Robinson (5'8/175) is vying with second-teamer Shamar Garrett to take over for tackle-dodger extraordinaire, Tyler Nevens who moves on. Though diminutive, Robinson averaged 3.47 yards after contact over the past two seasons while catching 19-of-20 targets in 2020. His receiving production dropped significantly in 2021, reeling in 21-of-34 balls with a troubling five drops. Still, Robinson is in position to get the lion’s share of work at SJSU.

San Jose State sophomore RB Kairee Robinson had five carries for 52 yards and a touchdown in a 28-23 win over Wyoming on Saturday.
San Jose was able to run well in this game with quarterback Nick Nash being the biggest contributor. Robinson (5'8/185) was second in carries and yards behind Nash. He wasn’t given the ball much, but he was able to make big plays by averaging over 10 yards a carry. He showed his toughness at the end of the second half when he took the handoff and was able to bounce off the line, and run to the sideline for the nine-yard touchdown. The Spartans looked good in the last two weeks, but it’s against UNLV and Wyoming who are a combined 0-8 in the Moutain West. The true test will be next week against a much better Nevada.

San Jose State sophomore RB Kairee Robinson handled 17 carries for 111 yards and a touchdown in Saturday’s 35-24 win over Hawaii.
Robinson was one of two RBs to clear 100 yards in this game. Teammate RB Tyler Nevens also completed the feat, though most of his work came in the first quarter. Robinson was the one to pick up the slack as the game went on, even finishing the game with one more carry than Nevens. Seeing as Robinson (5'8/185) entered the day with just 106 total rushing yards in his previous four appearances this year, erupting for 111 yards is quite the feel-good game for him. Perhaps Robinson can carry that over to next week’s game against Nevada.

San Jose State freshman RB Kairee Robinson (knee) left Saturday’s game against Boise State in the second half due to a left knee injury, according to CBS Sports Network’s Jenny Dell.
Robinson (5'8/185) left as the team’s leading rusher at the time, carrying nine times for 41 yards. He has been ruled out for the remainder of the game, so DeJon Paacker will have to pick up the slack when the pass-heavy Spartans elect to keep it on the ground. Next up is a trip to Hawaii, a bye and then a trip to UNLV.
