Arizona picks up LSU transfer Jordan Allen

The same month he transferred one FBS program, Jordan Allen has landed at another.

The defensive end confirmed to the Arizona Daily Star Tuesday that he has decided to play his final season of college football at Arizona. The graduate transfer from LSU will be eligible to play immediately in 2014.

“I was just ready for a fresh start; something different,” Allen told the Daily Star. “I wanted to find a place where I could come in and help the team and ultimately help them win a championship. Arizona seems like the perfect spot to do that.”

Allen’s decision to transfer from the Tigers earlier this spring was more about academics than football as the lineman he couldn’t get into grad school at LSU after receiving his bachelor’s degree.

Allen entered the 2013 season as a starting end before losing that job. He ultimately played in all 13 games for the Tigers after missing most of the 2012 season with a knee injury.

A four-star member of LSU’s 2010 recruiting class, Allen was rated as the No. 10 strongside end in the country coming out of high school in West Monroe, Louisiana.
