On the same day he was arrested on two misdemeanor charges, Texas wide Dan Buckner has become former Texas wide receiver Dan Buckner.
According to a statement released by the school, Buckner has decided to transfer from the Longhorns to a yet-to-be-determined football program.
The decision was made following a conversation between Buckner, head coach Mack Brown and the receiver’s family.
“We’ve talked to Dan and his family about his recent situation and they’ve assured us that he doesn’t think he did anything wrong and they’re confident that it will be cleared up through the legal process,” Brown said in a statement. “During our discussion with Dan and his family, we all decided that the best thing for him would be to transfer to another school and get a fresh start.”
Buckner, who was the Longhorns’ third-leading receiver in 2009, was arrested earlier this morning following an incident outside of a College Station complex involving his ex-girlfriend. He was ultimately charged with criminal trespassing and resisting arrest.
