According to a report in the Salt Lake Tribune, BYU defensive back Shiloah Te’o was charged with driving under the influence as well as two other traffic violations back in August.
Until Saturday night, however, head coach Bronco Mendenhall was unaware of the charges pending against Te’o. Following a brief investigation, Mendenhall decided to boot the sophomore from the team after yesterday’s practice.
Mendenhall announced the move shortly thereafter.
Back in January, the Tribune reports, Te’o was investigated by BYU’s Honor Code office for his role in an off-campus drinking party.
