Braxton Miller goes down early for Ohio State

Ohio State’s season might be hanging in the balance after star quarterback Braxton Miller went down with an injury early in the first quarter of its game against San Diego State.

Miller was hurt after taking a keeper for a first down on fourth and 1 from the Aztecs 12-yard line. A seemingly not-so-vicious hit nonetheless caused him to lose his helmet and he stayed down on the ground for a while, grimacing in pain and holding his head. Ohio State trainers came out and started examining his left knee.

The junior went to the sideline and appeared to be in considerable discomfort before being taken to the locker room on a cart.

Senior Kenny Guiton entered the game in relief of Miller after Ohio State took a 7-0 lead following a seven-yard touchdown run by freshman Dontre Wilson.

We’ve seen these scares from Miller before. He missed parts of games last season due to various scrapes and bruises. But if this injury is serious it could make all the talk of Ohio State being a national title contender just that -- talk. There may be no player in the country who is more important to his team.

We’ll keep you updated on Miller’s status as we get more information.
