Brent Musburger gets two more years as BCS play-by-play talent

Brent Musburger has become one of the most recognizable play-by-play talents in sports. At 73, he’s going to have the opportunity to call the final two BCS championship games as they’re currently known before college football’s new postseason begins in 2015.

ABC/ESPN, which currently broadcasts the BCS games and should continue to have the rights to a four-team playoff, announced a two-year deal with Musburger Monday.

“I couldn’t be happier about staying at ESPN,” said Musburger in a prepared statement. “It was never a consideration for me to move on from here. The people I work for and with are some of the best in the industry. I love the atmosphere at college events and surrounding myself around college athletes. Hey, that’s how I stay young.”

Word of Musburger’s deal first came through the USA Today.

I want to keep going as long as I feel good and they’ll have me,” Musburger told the paper.

Musburger has been calling ABC’s “Saturday Night Football” since 2006.
