CLEMSON FIRES TOMMY BOWDEN

The Tommy Bowden era at Clemson has come to an end.Bowden told his staff that he was fired this morning, The State is reporting. The firing comes just 10 months after the school announced that Bowden’s contract would be extended.Clemson was considered the favorite in the ACC heading into the season and was a Top 10 team, but the 3-3 start and Thursday night’s ugly loss to Wake Forest was enough to seal Bowden’s fate. His tenure ends with a record of 72-45.Clemson is expected to turn to receivers coach Dabo Swinney to serve as the interim coach for the remainder of the season. The first big decision for Swinney is what to do at quarterback. Bowden said on Friday that he would bench Cullen Harper in favor Willy Korn, but it’s possible that Swinney has other ideas. One thing is for sure: Harper is glad Bowden is gone. Harper told ESPN that Bowden “got what he deserved.”
