DESPITE CAR CRASH, THOMAS COULD START FOR DUCKS

Oregon true freshman quarterback Darron Thomas, an exciting, athletic player who was in contention to start this week after a spate of quarterback injuries, bruised his throwing elbow in a car crash Thursday. But Oregon coach Mike Bellotti says Thomas will be OK and might start on Saturday anyway. Two of Thomas’s teammates were injured more seriously in the crash. Wide receiver Jamere Holland will miss Saturday’s game because of injuries he sustained, as will linebacker Eddie Pleasant, who was cited for reckless driving and speed racing.Bellotti said he hasn’t decided on whether Pleasant will face team discipline, or whether he thinks Pleasant learned his lesson after needing 75 stitches on his forehead."Any time an accident occurs, the stories differ just a little bit on what happened,” said Bellotti. "(Pleasant) was cited by the police so I assume he was at fault.”
