With National Signing Day exactly 20 days away, Thursday marks the end of a recruiting dead period* for coaching staffs across the country. For Michigan’s new head coach, it means something else: his first opportunity to hit the recruiting trail for face-to-face meetings with prospects since his time at Stanford ended in January of 2011.
And, as expected from an individual as fiery as Harbaugh, he’s attacking the day with, well, unprecedented gusto.

Thanks to the uncertainty swirling around Brady Hoke and his ultimate dismissal, Harbaugh and his new coaching staff certainly have their work cut out for them.
At the moment, UM’s class currently ranks 97th in the country in the most recent Rivals.com team ratings; the only other Power Five school below them is Oregon State at a tie for 106th. Florida is currently 94th, with the common denominator for those three programs being new head coaches.
The closest Big Ten school to UM? Purdue at 60th.
If enthusiasm, the kind unknown to mankind, means anything in recruiting, the Wolverines’ class won’t be there for long. Now pardon me as I go all Harbaugh on this bottle of Pepsi...
