Fighting off an illness that slowed him throughout the Arizona State game, Jake Locker suffered a “significant bruise” in his quad during the same contest.
Not only will the leg injury not keep him out against Oregon State, it appears, but the injury shouldn’t limit what the Huskies plan to do offensively Saturday.
“I wouldn’t think so,” head coach Steve Sarkisian said when asked if his starter would be limited, “but we’ll obviously monitor it closely as the game goes on. ... He looks fine. I thought he would get back. I don’t think he will be 100 percent; there is a pretty good-sized bruise. But it’s nice to have him and know that you’ve got him.”
The injury’s not exactly a minor thing, however, regardless of how big of a bow Sarkisian attempts to slap on it. Locker has sat out team drills the majority of the week, but the senior took all of the snaps with the first-team offense.
What Sarkisian saw on the practice field yesterday seems to have eased any concerns the coach may have had earlier in the week.
“I thought he moved around good [Thursday],” Sarkisian said. “We did some things with him running and he responded well.”
