Lattimore injured in South Carolina’s win

After an All-American start to the 2011 season, Marcus Lattimore has struggled to find much traction -- or running room -- over the past three games.

Now, you can make that four straight games worth of struggles. And, to compound the statistical woes, there’s an injury concern added into the mix as well.

While South Carolina upped its record to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in SEC play with the 14-12 win over Mississippi State, Lattimore suffered a leg injury in the fourth quarter of the victory. While the specific nature and extent of the injury is unknown, Lattimore left the field with the aid of crutches and the leg wrapped.

It’s unclear when an update on Lattimore’s status for the upcoming weekend and beyond will be available.

Despite his struggles the past month of the season, Lattimore still came into today’s game as the SEC’s leading rusher.

UPDATED 4:22 p.m. ET: The initial diagnosis is Lattimore suffered a sprained knee. Further medical testing will determine the extent of the injury and how much if any time the back may miss.
