MASSIVE CHANGES COMING FOR HOOSIER FOOTBALL

Coming off a season that saw the Hoosiers get to their first bowl game in 14 years, the Indiana Hoosiers stumbled to a 3-9 record under second year coach Bill Lynch. In a season that saw crushing injuries, and a huge step backwards, massive changes are coming to the program.Eight players are leaving the team according to Lynch at a press conference this morning. Included in that group are brothers Keith and Kevin Burrus. Both of them were looked to be anchors of the defensive line, but decided against returning to Bloomington for a 5th year. Add to that the decision of defensive tackle Jeff Boyd to leave the program earlier in the spring, and the front four of Indiana is dangerously thin.In addition to the players leaving the program, Lynch also announced that seven offensive players will be switching to a defensive position. Included in that group was last season’s leading receiver, Ray Fisher, who led the Hoosiers in both receptions and touchdown catches.Former All-Big Ten quarterback Kellen Lewis will also be spending spring practice learning other positions, getting time at wide receiver as well as quarterback. It’s a dark spring for Indiana athletics, which already saw the basketball team reach record lows this season.
