Three days after an incident led to his arrest on two weapons charges, offensive lineman Jose Jose -- there’s that damn echo again -- has been stripped of his Central Florida scholarship.
The school made the announcement via a press release this afternoon.
“I have decided to release Jose Jose from his scholarship at UCF due to expected player conduct rules and guidelines that have been established by UCF and UCF the football program.” head coach George O’Leary said in a statement.
“I support the decision made by Coach O’Leary,” added Keith Tribble, Director of Athletics. “In the larger picture, It is our hope that something positive may result from this situation for Jose.”
Jose was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and aggravated assault with a firearm early Friday morning.
The lineman was originally a verbal commitment to Tennessee before Lane Kiffin left for the USC job. After a brief flirtation with South Florida, Jose ultimately signed a Letter of Intent with UCF.
