Video shows Michigan’s Csont’e York KOing man outside bar

And by “KOing man” I mean “knocking him the !%$# out.”

Last week it was reported that Michigan had indefinitely suspended wide receiver Csont’e York because he was part of a police investigation. It was subsequently reported that York would be facing three misdemeanor charges -- one count of aggravated assault and two counts of assault or assault and battery -- for an incident that occurred July 18.

This afternoon, the Ann Arbor Police Department released a security video showing the incident. And, suffice to say, it doesn’t paint York in a flattering light.

The actual punch occurs at around the :20-second mark:

Now, there are sucker punches and then there are sucker punches; that one thrown by York was the (female dog) move of sucker punches.

As to what led up to the punch, offered up some of the details:

York, 20, who is wearing a fishing cap in the video, and his teammate Da’Mario Jones, 19, apparently got into a confrontation with the victim and his friend off-camera because the victim reportedly bumped into York.

“A group of people were arguing about football and hockey. Everyone was talking … crap. ... (The victim) was jaw-jacking. All (of a) sudden, the guy just came up and cold clocked (the victim).”

One witness said he thought York hit the victim because he is white, according to the report, but York and Jones told police it was because the men bumped into them.

The victim suffered a broken jaw as a result of the punch.

It’s unclear what if any game time York will miss because of the incident.

York, a three-star member of UM’s 2013 recruiting class, played in one game as a true freshman last season. He was expected to see an increased role in the offense in 2014.
