Greene, who spent last year pitching in the independent Mexican League, was originally drafted back in 2013 by the Blue Jays when current Astros general manager Dana Brown was working for the team. the 28-year-old righty hasn’t appeared in the majors since the 2021 campaign and appears to be merely extra organizational relief depth for Triple-A Sugar Land.

Greene made 24 relief appearances last year between the Orioles and Dodgers and has been cut loose by Baltimore after allowing 28 runs (22 earned) on 27 hits with an 18/21 K/BB ratio across 18 2/3 innings (16 appearances) this season at Triple-A Norfolk. The 27-year-old righty should be able to latch on with a new organization this summer.

The Orioles have 42 players left in major-league camp this spring. Greene, who made 24 relief appearances last year in the majors between Baltimore and Los Angeles, will open the regular season as extra relief depth at Triple-A Norfolk.

Greene, 26, went from the Orioles to the Dodgers and back to the Orioles last season, posting a 7.11 ERA over 24 appearances. He’ll compete for a bullpen job.

Greene passed through waivers unclaimed and has refused an outright minor-league assignment. The 26-year-old righty allowed 20 runs on 32 hits with a 26/12 K/BB ratio across 25 1/3 innings with the Orioles and Dodgers this past season. He should be able to land a minor-league deal with an invite to spring training this offseason.

Or should we say reclaimed? Greene was claimed off waivers from the Orioles just two weeks ago and threw two scoreless innings of relief for the Dodgers, but he was cast aside in favor of more experienced arms. The 26-year-old is slated to report to Triple-A Norfolk.

It’s the second time this season that Greene has been removed from the team’s 40-man roster, this time it’s so they could add the recently-signed Shane Greene to the bullpen. He should pass through waivers unclaimed and continue to provide pitching depth at Triple-A.
