Undrafted journeyman Darrion Weems is expected to open the season as the Broncos’ starting right guard.
Undrafted out of Oregon in 2012, Weems has appeared in one NFL game during his four-year career. Although he is currently recovering from a concussion he suffered in the second preseason game, it sounds like he will earn his second appearance on opening day. “I was really excited about how Weems has played,” coach Gary Kubiak said. The right guard job is likely Ty Sambrailo’s (elbow) once he gets healthy, but that means Weems could make multiple starts.
  • Broncos waived G/T Darrion Weems.
The Broncos needed to clear a roster spot for Billy Turner, who was claimed off waivers from the Ravens on Monday. Weems logged 114 snaps for Denver this year while mostly playing at right guard. He struggled mightily, grading out as one of the worst guards in football, according to ProFootballFocus.
