Broncos signed OL Don Barclay to a reserve/future contract.
The ex-Packers starter spent 2018 out of the league. He made only three 2017 appearances. Barclay turns 30 in April.
  • FA Guard #76
Packers RT T.J. Lang missed the final three and a half quarters of Sunday’s game with a left ankle injury.
The injury is not believed to be serious. Undrafted rookie Don Barclay stepped in and did a bang-up job against the Vikings’ front seven. In fact, the majority of the Packers’ 152 rushing yards came on the right side behind Barclay and RG Josh Sitton. The coaching staff may opt to move Lang back to left guard and keep Barclay in the lineup.
  • FA Tackle #67
Packers OT Don Barclay is listed questionable for Week 16 with an illness.
This news comes just one day after the Packers announced they were reshuffling their offensive line with Evan Dietrich-Smith replacing Jeff Saturday at center. If Barclay is unable to go, the Packers may need to swing T.J. Lang back to tackle, Dietrich-Smith back to guard and Saturday back to center. With Barclay at tackle, the Packers have rushed for 152, 140 and 113 yards in three division wins.
  • One NFC scout told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that OT Marshall Newhouse is not an “ideal” starter.
“You have to do things in your protection scheme to give him help at times,” the scout said. “He could be a swing guy.” Newhouse started all 16 games on Aaron Rodgers’ blind side in 2012. Beat writer Tyler Dunne thinks the Packers could move Bryan Bulaga to left tackle and start Don Barclay at right tackle. Barclay started four games last season. Dunne thinks it would be “smart to strike” on Alabama RT D.J. Fluker with the No. 26 pick in the draft if he were available.

Don Barclay is expected to open the season as the Packers’ starting right tackle.
Green Bay’s first-team front five is taking shape, from left to right reading LT David Bakhtiari, LG Josh Sitton, C Evan Dietrich-Smith, RG T.J. Lang, and RT Barclay. Barclay has outplayed Marshall Newhouse in practice and preseason games, and is one of the team’s top run blockers. His winning of the job is good news for Eddie Lacy, who is going to be a 2013 offensive focal point.
  • FA Tackle #67
Packers RG Don Barclay left Week 11 against the Redskins with a shoulder injury.
Barclay was sidelined to start the second half and didn’t return. Jason Spriggs replaced Barclay.
  • FA Tackle #67
    Packers re-signed G/C Don Barclay to a one-year, $1.3 million contract.
Barclay can play all across the line, though he’s not very good at any particular spot. With J.C. Tretter off to Cleveland, Barclay is the top interior backup.
  • FA Tackle #67
Packers OLs Don Barclay, Kyle Murphy, and Lucas Patrick are expected to compete for the starting job at right guard.
After RG T.J. Lang left to sign a free-agent deal with the Lions, the Packers are looking to replace a longtime starting guard for the second year in a row. Barclay was re-signed to a one-year, $1.3 million deal in March but has largely disappointed when pressed into snaps. Murphy was a sixth-round pick last year. Green Bay could look to take a lineman early in this weekend’s draft.

Packers placed OG Don Barclay on injured reserve/designated to return.
That opens up a roster spot for Ahmad Brooks. Barclay went down with a foot injury in Green Bay’s first preseason game. He’ll be spelled at right guard by Jahri Evans.

Packers OG Don Barclay exited the preseason opener with an ankle injury.
Barclay could not put any weight on the leg as he was helped off the field, and he had to ride the cart into the locker room. We should know more soon, but it looks like he could be dealing with a serious injury.
