Tennessee received a verbal commitment from four-star 2020 S Doneiko Slaughter, formerly pledged to Arizona State.
Slaughter (6'0/180) had been in ASU’s corner since June, but they ended up falling five days short of keeping him in the stable for the early signing period. The Roswell, Georgia, native has taken three visits to Tennessee over the last two months as the Vols worked to make their winning pitch. Slaughter brings a stellar work ethic to the table while ranking as Rivals’ No. 27 safety prospect in the 2020 class.

Rivals’ Mike Farrell writes that Arizona State three-star 2020 verbal S commit Doneiko Slaughter “has a great work ethic that Herm Edwards will love.”
Slaughter (6'0/180) threw in with Arizona State near the end of June, opting for the Sun Devils over Troy, Miami, Arkansas State, Memphis and Mississippi State. Sun Devils HC Herm Edwards reached all the way across the country to Roswell, Georgia, to land the three-star safety. Slaughter does plan on taking further visits up ahead, meaning that ASU will have to keep the pressure on -- especially given the distance we’re talking about. Rivals ranks Slaughter as the No. 37 safety prospect in the 2020 class.

Arizona State received a verbal commitment from three-star 2020 S Doneiko Slaughter.
Slaughter (6'0/180) was sorting through a number of options in the southeast, telling Rivals that Troy, Miami, Arkansas State, Memphis and Mississippi State were the other programs which he had seriously been considering. ASU HC Herm Edwards fended off that competition and convinced the Roswell, Georgia, native to make a rather sizable relocation. It should be noted that Slaughter does plan to continue making his visitation rounds in the weeks and months ahead, something which always puts a given commitment on just slightly less stable ground. Rivals ranks Slaughter as the No. 38 safety prospect in the 2020 class.
