Heriberto Hernández homers in win vs. Giants

Ray served up a three-run homer to Cole Carrigg in the first inning. He then settled in nicely, tossing five more shutout frames to end his day with a quality start and in line for a win. He struck out four. The 34-year-old left-hander will take a 3.45 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and an 86/46 K/BB ratio across 101 2/3 innings into a start against the Rockies in San Francisco on Thursday.

The Giants hung four runs on Sullivan in the opening frame on a walk and four hits. Two more hits in the second scored a fifth run. Bryce Eldridge then took him deep for a solo homer in the third. Sullivan would give the Rockies two scoreless frames, leaving with two outs in the sixth. He allowed 12 hits in all and walked two while collecting four strikeouts. The 23-year-old left-hander ends the day with an 8.87 ERA, 2.01 WHIP, and a 16/11 K/BB ratio across 22 1/3 innings. He’s currently lined up for a start against the Giants in San Francisco on Thursday.

Harris knocked a base hit in the third inning to drive in a run and scored on a double. He then singled and scored in the seventh before taking Luis Torrens deep for a solo homer in the eighth. The 25-year-old outfielder is having an excellent season, hitting .301/.334/.507 with 16 homers, 41 runs scored, 48 RBI, and five steals across 314 plate appearances.

Woodruff exited after allowing three runs in 3 2/3 innings, and his velocity was down to 87 mph before he left the contest. The 33-year-old has unfortunately has dealt with significant injuries in the past, and fantasy managers will need to hold their breath and hope that this isn’t another one. White got the start in right field against the left-handed Sean Manaea. That paid off right away, as White took Manaea deep for a solo homer in the second inning. With the bases loaded in the third, he cleared them all with a double to drive in three more runs. The 32-year-old outfielder is on the short side of a platoon, hitting .229/.274/.404 with four homers and 18 RBI across 117 plate appearances.

Vientos took Chris Sale deep for a two-run homer in the sixth inning to cut into the Braves’ lead. It wouldn’t matter much as Atlanta pushed their lead to 11 runs by the time Vientos added a base hit in the ninth. The 26-year-old first baseman is almost exclusively playing against left-handed pitching on a short-side platoon. He’s hitting .213/.252/.391 with 11 homers, 25 runs scored, and 35 RBI across 250 plate appearances.

Sale held the Mets scoreless through four innings before Tyrone Taylor took him deep for a solo homer in the fifth. Mark Vientos then got to Sale with a two-run homer in the sixth. Sale gave up another hit and hit a batter, leaving two runners on with no outs in the sixth inning. Both inherited runners would be left stranded. The 37-year-old left-hander will take a 2.27 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and a 112/24 K/BB ratio across 95 innings into a start against the Pirates in Pittsburgh on Thursday.
