Michael Lorenzen gives up four runs in ninth loss

Lorenzen surrendered a leadoff homer to Shohei Ohtani in the first inning. He got through three more scoreless innings before allowing a second run in on a bases-loaded walk in the fifth. The two runs would be all the Dodgers could get across on Lorenzen through five frames. An error and a hit in the sixth brought an unearned run in. Lorenzen’s day would be done at 95 pitches. He struck out five. The 34-year-old right-hander will take a 6.65 ERA, 1.79 WHIP, and a 72/35 K/BB ratio across 92 innings into a start against the Giants in San Francisco on Sunday.

Lorenzen can’t get away with six walks anywhere but certainly not at Coors Field. He has an 8.21 ERA and a 31/22 K/BB in 41 2/3 innings at home this year. On the road, he’s still at 5.68, even though his 36/10 K/BB in 44 1/3 innings is pretty good. Lorenzen will make his next start Tuesday in L.A. against the Dodgers.

Lorenzen gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out none. He improved to 3-9 with the win. Lorenzen allowed a run in the first inning and another in the sixth inning. Even if Lorenzen didn’t have a 6.83 ERA and pitch half of his games at Coors Field, he doesn’t get enough strikeouts to be on the fantasy radar. He’s lined up to face the Marlins at home next weekend.

The 34-year-old right-hander’s start was almost a carbon copy of his start against the Cubs last week, when he held Chicago to one run in five innings and struck out seven at Coors Field. Lorenzen lowered his ERA to 7.13. He still remains off the fantasy radar for his next start against the Pirates at home this weekend.

Lorenzen topped his previous high in strikeouts by two. He entered the night with a 9.84 ERA in his previous seven starts, but the Cubs’ slump is just so deep that it didn’t matter much. Lorenzen will have a chance to feast again next week at Wrigley Field.

Lorenzen has lost his last six decisions, and his ERA is up to 8.01. The Rockies probably don’t have anyone they want to replace him with at the moment, but this can’t go on for too much longer. He’s given up 99 hits in 60 2/3 innings. The next highest total in the majors in 86 hits, and that’s from Sandy Alcantara, who has worked 82 1/3 innings.

Lorenzen continues to struggle, but he was able to avoid his eighth loss because the Rockies provided some run support. The 34-year-old allowed five hits and a pair of walks while striking out two, and his ERA remains an ugly 7.22 on the campaign. Not ideal. He’ll try and get on the right track against the Angels next week, but to say fantasy managers can’t rely on Lorenzen is the understatement of understatements.

Lorenzen allowed 11 earned runs over 9 2/3 innings in his back-to-back starts against the D-backs. It’s not like he’s been much better against anyone else, he’s now 2-7 on the season with an ERA of 7.21. Who outside of anyone and everyone could have seen these struggles coming? Lorenzen well try and improve those numbers against the Giants next weekend.

Lorenzen allowed nine hits, walked three and struck out five. At 2-6 with a 7.03 ERA, he might be in danger of being bumped into middle relief at some point here, though the Chase Dollander injury takes some pressure off. Lorenzen is due to face the Diamondbacks again next weekend in Arizona.
