Ezequiel Tovar hits eighth homer against Dodgers

It’s Anthony’s second time doubling twice and first time collecting three extra-base hits in a major league game. He’d struggled a bit the last two weeks, but he’s hit a fine .265/.321/.490 in 23 games since coming off the injured list at the end of last month.

Bemnett helped his case for a spot on the Wild Card roster. He’s not going to start against the Yankees, but he might get some innings in if one of the guys ahead of him struggles. Bennett ends the regular season with a 9-7 record, a 3.65 ERA and a 91/21 KBB in 113 1/3 innings.

The Red Sox avoided their top relievers in the first game today, but that worked out fine in the 4-3 win. Burgos, who also pitched two scoreless innings last night, has a 4.22 ERA over 21 1/3 innings.

Holmes allowed five hits, walked three and struck out three. He’s not exactly ending the season on a high note, having allowed 19 earned runs with a 15/15 K/BB over 19 2/3 innings in his final four starts. Still, he has a nice 3.29 ERA for the year anyway. He was probably in line for a Wild Card start, but he’s definitely opened the door to be bypassed, assuming that Kevin Gausman is ready to pitch.

Amaya’s double at Fenway was hit 104.6 mph at a 36-degree launch angle. Under normal circumstances, it would have left Fenway Park entirely. However, with the wind whipping in today, it made it all of 313 feet and barely caught a piece of the Green Monster. Since the beginning of 2025, it was the 50th ball hit between 104-105 mph at a 36-degree angle. The median distance of the other 49 was 386 feet, with a previous low of 347 feet.

Burnes had been scheduled to make one final start in the season finale on Sunday, but he’ll instead hit the injured list. The 31-year-old hurler wound up making three starts in his return from Tommy John surgery, posting a 7.84 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and an 8/4 K/BB ratio over 10 1/3 innings. The shoulder issue will add to the uncertainty in his fantasy value heading into the 2027 campaign.

It looks to be nothing more than a routine day of rest for the 25-year-old infielder. Sam Antonacci will cover second base in his absence while Randal Grichuk will draw a start in left field and will bat seventh against Rockies’ right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano.

It’s the fifth consecutive game that the 27-year-old infielder has missed due to left thumb discomfort. At this point, there’s no guarantee that we see him again this season. Jared Serna will start in his place at second base and will bat ninth against the Braves on Friday evening in Miami.

Bateman missed both games of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Orioles due to right hip discomfort and he’s still not ready to go on Friday night. With only two games left in the season and the jays out of playoff contention. there’s no reason for them to rush him back if he’s not fully ready. Myles Straw will start in his place in center field and will bat ninth against Reds’ left-hander Nick Lodolo on Friday evening in Toronto.

The Phillies haven’t provided any updates on his status yet, but the fact that he hasn’t been placed on the injured list leaves hope that they expect him to return for the NLDS, even if he misses the final weekend of the regular season. His availability will ultimately depend on how much he’s able to improve over the next few days.
