Matthew Boyd blanked the Orioles for six innings in the Cubs’ 5-2 victory Tuesday.

Boyd allowed three hits, walked two and struck out seven. He’s 2-0 with a 1.72 ERA in three starts since coming off the IL and 4-1 with a 4.31 ERA in eight starts overall this season. He’ll finish off the first half for the Cubs with a start in Cincinnati on Sunday.

Guardians signed first-round pick RHP Liam Peterson.

Peterson gets the full $4.53 million slot value from the Guardians as the 19th overall pick in the draft. The 21-year-old is mostly projection at this stage of his development, but he’s armed with a near-elite slider and misses plenty of bats. He’s not close to making a fantasy impact, but he’s interesting.

Astros signed first-round pick OF Logan Hughes.

Hughes receives a $3.4 million signing bonus, which is well below the $4.87 million slot value for the 17th overall pick. The 21-year-old will remain in the Lone Star state after a remarkable final collegiate season at Texas Tech where he hit .375 with 18 homers. He projects as a power-hitting corner outfielder capable of batting in the middle of the order, if he reaches his ceiling.

Diamondbacks signed first-round pick C Ryder Helfrick.

Helfrick projects as an impactful power-hitting fantasy catcher in the near future following a standout collegiate career at Arkansas where he launched 51 bombs over his final two seasons. The 21-year-old backstop received a full-slot deal for $5.24 million after being selected 15th overall by Arizona earlier this month.

Cardinals signed first-round pick OF Trevor Condon.

Condon receives a slightly under-slot deal for $5.16 million after the Cardinals made him the 13th overall pick in the draft. The 18-year-old is an excellent athlete despite being a bit undersized for an elite prospect at just 5-foot-11. It’s easy to envision him hitting for a strong batting average and supplying plenty of stolen bases, but doesn’t offer much projection in the power department.

Rockies signed first-round pick SS Tyler Bell.

The Rockies managed to ink Bell to a $5.98 million under-slot deal after an impressive final collegiate season at Kentucky. The 21-year-old switch-hitting shortstop should benefit from playing in Coors Field someday down the road and is one of the highest realistic floor hitters in the entire draft class.

Hunter Dobbins is available in relief for Monday’s game against the Cubs.

It sounds like the plan is for Dobbins, who was originally scheduled to start Tuesday’s game, to piggyback with Matthew Liberatore in this one. It’s a tough development fantasy-wise since it caps his potential volume upside. He struck out five over six shutout innings against the Angels last Wednesday.

Jeffrey Springs underwent an MRI on his right hip that didn’t reveal any structural damage.

Springs is aiming to make his next start against the Tigers on Friday following an early exit from Sunday’s outing with right hip discomfort. The 33-year-old holds an underwhelming 6.23 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 86/39 K/BB ratio across 104 innings this season. Needless to say, he’s not a recommended fantasy option.

Braves sent RHP Elieser Hernández outright to Triple-A Gwinnett.

There’s a chance Hernández decides to stick around as emergency organizational depth after tossing three scoreless innings against the Orioles last Friday. The well-traveled 31-year-old has the option to elect free agency after passing through waivers unclaimed, but his clearest path to another big-league opportunity is probably with Atlanta.

Nick Kurtz is out of the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Red Sox.

Kurtz has gone 1-for-8 with a three-run homer in a pair of games since coming back from the injured list over the weekend. The 23-year-old offensive force will get a breather with hard-throwing lefty Peyton Tolle toeing the rubber for Boston in this one. It’ll be Jeff McNeil taking over at first base.
